Community plays an important role in our lives allows us to feel that we are part of something greater than ourselves. In response to the pandemic, when people were feeling isolated, PMI Karachi Pakistan Chapter launched Readers’ Club, a community of readers. This presentation will review how the chapter team developed an idea to engage members, which now serves the PM community at large through books and reading. 

The PMI Toronto Chapter had an established in-person mentoring program. The need to implement social distancing brought unprecedented challenges to the program. When you have a creative and motivated team of volunteers with the wisdom of highly experienced mentors, you can transform a challenge into an outstanding opportunity. The presenters will share the lessons learned of an international remote mentoring program experience that connected and transformed the lives of hundreds of mentors and mentees.

2020 was an unusual and challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. PMI Melbourne Chapter modified its approach to ensure continued delivery of value-added services to members. Thanks to the power of technology, our membership stayed engaged and connected through participation in virtual events, following us on social media, and keeping informed via the monthly newsletter. Strategies were introduced to recruit, re-connect, retain, and return members. New initiatives helped keep things bright through adversity. 

The presenter will expose her experience in improving the customer experience of members and volunteers. A five-year journey refocused the board, used tools and data that led to increased engagement. In 2020, the first year of the pandemic, the chapter had 5,000+ people registered for 120+ events.

This session will provide you with an introduction to PMI’s volunteer engagement model, which includes Recruitment, Retention, Recognition and Relationships. You will understand how a commitment to the 4Rs, along with an awareness of PMI’s volunteer engagement data can help your chapter engage volunteers effectively.
